I never set out to write books. And I certainly never imagined that one day I'd spend much of my life encouraging people who feel stuck.

As a young man, I was more interested in music than ministry. I had plans for my life, but God had other ideas. A decision to surrender my life to Christ changed the direction of my story and began a journey that has now spanned more than four decades of ministry.

Over the years, that journey has taken me places I never expected.

I've served in music ministry and pastoral ministry, planted a church, developed leaders, taught students, mentored pastors, and walked alongside people through some of life's greatest joys and deepest struggles.

I've celebrated victories with people who thought they would never make it.

I've sat with families in moments of grief and uncertainty.

I've watched people overcome fear, rebuild after failure, discover purpose, and find the courage to take their next step forward.

And through it all, I've learned something important:

Life rarely unfolds the way we expect.

The chapters we would gladly skip often become the chapters that shape us the most. The disappointments we never wanted to face can become places where God does some of His deepest work. And the moments when we feel most stuck are often the moments just before a new chapter begins.

Today I serve on the staff of Transformation Church in Pensacola, Florida, where I invest in developing leaders and encouraging pastors and ministry teams. I also write and speak, helping people navigate fear, rejection, burnout, disappointment, purpose, and faith.

My first book, The Courage to Move Forward, grew out of years of conversations with people who felt trapped by circumstances, fear, shame, or self-doubt and wondered if their lives could ever be different.

I believe they can.

Not because life is easy. Not because change happens overnight.

But because God is still writing stories.

Including yours.

When I'm not writing, speaking, or serving at church, you'll often find me spending time with my wife Vicki, enjoying good music, exploring new places, or sharing a conversation over a cup of coffee.
